Valentin's Letter

Pre Fall 2023

Dear Friends,

Six months ago our daughter Daisy was born - an Aquarius.
Like Iris and me. My poor wife...
Sweaters are now only the second most important thing in the world.

I wonder if she'll ever love fashion. Or sports, maybe books?
Painting rather than playing hockey with Daddy in the garden?

I think of all the sweater paintings I drew when I was a little kid. After school, I sat right down at the table with the designers. We lived in the same house as the company back then. Iris was a single parent.

The quantities of thick and thin crayons were irresistible: still lifes, mythical animals, everyday scenes, abstract flower meadows, wild landscapes, flying lions and colour explosions Γ  la Jackson Pollock. Everything somehow fit on a sweater.

A few of these pictures are still around. And to be honest, I don't think they're that bad. As a Parisian streetwear label, we would have knitted them in intarsia long since. I haven't dared to do that yet. I'm still a little proud of these creations today. Only then the uninhibited, wild creativity of childhood was lost. Imagination is such a treasure.

Daisy, when will you paint our first collection?
Then we will definitely have the courage.
