Valentin's Letter

Spring | Summer 2024

Dear Friends,

just like cashmere, Frauenthal 4 has been part of Iris von Arnim’s DNA for 35 years. In 1988, Iris and her company moved into the art nouveau villa on Hamburg’s Outer Alster Lake. A lot has changed since then: the sales department has moved into my playroom, the design team has taken over an entire floor. What used to be my football pitch is now a wild flower meadow.

The house from 1894 is the heart of our company. It is where the collections are created, where technicians are deliberating back and forth with the designers regarding all details, where sales and marketing meet. If you want to feel our brand, you just need to wander through these rooms.

The renovation is almost completed. We have moved back in. Here and there a cable hangs out from the ceiling, a few stone slabs and lights are still missing. It feels really good to be back again: soaking up the atmosphere of the garden through the floor-to-ceiling windows, marvelling at the old wall paintings and the stucco in the new light.

We can feel a fresh spirit between the old walls. Pictures will follow as soon as we are finished. For now, there’s the new collection to discover – new ideas with our DNA.
